Appointments now available for Psychological or Psychoeducational Assessment of children and adolescents.
Dr. Olson has been a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Texas since 2006, and a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology since 2004. She specializes in the assessment of children and adolescents, with particular interests in emotional and behavioral problems as well as developmental disabilities such as autism spectrum disorders. Prior to her work as an assistant professor at Argosy University’s Online Programs in the College of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences, Dr. Olson worked as a psychologist in public schools for approximately 7 years. In addition to consulting with teachers, parents, administrators, and other professionals, Dr. Olson conducted psychological and psychoeducational evaluations, provided training on Safe and Civil Schools, counseled students, developed behavioral intervention plans, conducted research, and supervised predoctoral practicum students and interns in an APA-accredited site. She believes that assessment should be utilized not only to answer questions about why a person is struggling, whether it be academically, socially, or behaviorally, but also to develop recommendations for effective supports and interventions.
Dr. Olson has been married since 2000 and they have two sons and a daughter. As a wife and mother, she understands that the process of assessment and diagnosis can be intimidating and overwhelming. Therefore, emphasis is put on helping parents and children feel comfortable with the process and questions are always welcome.
